Apollo 11 had many firsts, and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin E “Buzz” Aldrin had his share.
He spoke the first words from another world (“Contact light – OK, Engine Stop”).
He quietly served himself communion after touchdown on the Lunar Surface.
He was also the first man to “relieve himself” on the Moon.
Many people recall the days where an Apollo astronaut slugged a golf ball on the Moon and watched as it sailed for “miles and miles,” but that was Alan Shepard on Apollo 14, not Buzz Aldrin.
Answer to the bonus question – ironically, the Commander was the one who piloted the Lunar Module… not the Lunar Module Pilot.
